This campaign is based on a famous Chinese fable about an Emperor who commissions an artist to paint a mural of a dragon (the symbol for the Chinese people) on the palace wall. As the artist is putting on the finishing touches, painting in the dragon’s pupils, it comes to life and flies off into the sky. Thus, bringing to life the hopes and dreams of the Chinese people everywhere. Here, Snoopy/MetLife perform the miraculous deed. In the TV spot, the emotional drama is further amplified by an excerpt from Tan Dun’s famous symphony, “Heaven Earth Mankind”, which was composed specifically for the 1997 Reunification Celebration of Hong Kong and China. MetLife also aired the TV spot in China.
